In 1984, after leaving NBC's WKQX in Chicago, and moving to Dallas to launch KISS in Dallas for ABC; I met the then Columbia Records company Representative Michael Scurlock. Passionate, full of creative ideas, energy, and a wiliness to win your ears with his Artist's and Groups, Michael was on the ball. Because of my relationships with so many Recording Artists and Groups, both as a Programmer and Broadcast Network On-Air Talent; it was common to have them as guests for my shows, at events, in concert, see them backstage at concerts and in the recording studio.

Michael knew this and was quick to bring them when they where in town in what seemed like an endless parade of talent: Steve Perry, Paul McCartneyBette MidlerBilly JoelChicagoEarth, Wind & Fire, Michael BoltonAretha Franklin, Santana, The BanglesC+C Music FactoryPaul SimonGeorge Benson, AerosmithPhilip Bailey, AC/DCBarry ManilowBruce Springsteen, David BowieNeil Diamond, Kenny LogginsLoverboyEddie MoneyDolly Parton,James TaylorTommy TutoneBonnie TylerZZ Top and members of The Rolling Stones too name just a few.

In 1985 [as ABC was selling KISS in Dallas], I was transfered to KLOS and ABC Los Angeles; where I first worked with the Jon Scott and events to benefit the Bogart Cancer Research Programs. It was a series of big events, celebrity baseball games, golf tournaments, pool games, and more. The goal was clear, to raise money to benefit cancer research "in hope of cures", and to assist those in need! Clearly Jon had the support of the Industry, and the events were a huge success.
Recently, thanks to Social Network, the Internet, Karma, fate, what is suppose to be; I have reconnected with so many friends, relatives, professionals and others. Including Jon Scott, and Michael Scurlock. Recently, in a call with Jon, we discussed the past charitable events to benefit cancer cures, and Michael Scurlock. I am please to say, I have promised Jon and Michal to help get the word out, and hopefully to motivate you to attend [or at least contribution to], the:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Rock’n’Bowl 30th Anniversary
Event Set For November 17

(HOLLYWOOD, CA)—Marking the 30th anniversary of an event which captured world wide attention in 1980 by harnessing the resources and clout of the music industry to benefit cancer research, the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program has announced that it will hold a very special Rock’n’Bowl event on Wednesday, November 17, from 7:00-11:00 PM at Pinz (12655 Ventura Blvd.) in Studio City, CA.

The event, featuring entertainment, food and beverages, will benefit the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program and veteran record industry promotion executive Michael Scurlock, who is suffering from an intensive battle with pancreatic cancer. Raffle tickets will be sold to help Michael pay for his expensive treatment and hospice care. People purchasing raffle tickets do not have to be present to win. All contributions, sponsorship funds and V.I.P. guest proceeds will go to Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research. A special presentation will also be made to honor the memory of KROQ’s Rick Carroll and Larry Groves.

The Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program began in one small laboratory and today supports research programs across the country whose impact is felt around the world. The groundbreaking research that’s accomplished in the Bogart laboratories is a result of a unique combination of talented leaders, great ideas and solid funding. Thanks to the program’s generous supporters the facilities, staff and patients of C.H.L.A. and Children’s Oncology Group (COG) all work together and benefit greatly from Bogart’s research funding. Event organizer Jon Scott said, “People have been asking me for years to put on another Rock’n’Bowl and the chance to do it for the Bogart Pediatric Cancer Research Program and Michael Scurlock on the first event’s 30th anniversary made it easy to say yes.”
