Guild Members: Reminder to Take the New Media Work Experience Survey

Guild Members: Reminder to Take the New Media Work Experience Survey

Reminder to Take the New Media Work Experience Survey
Screen Actors Guild is currently surveying its members’ new media work experiences. Remember, for each new media job you work, please return here to fill out the anonymous New Media Work Experience Survey.

With your participation, this member response tool (available until spring) will deliver the most current snapshot of the Guild’s involvement in new media entertainment. The resulting data will be crucial to identifying the effects of the TV/Theatrical Contract ratified earlier this year and to informing the next round of negotiations, slated for fall 2010.

This brief multiple-choice survey is completely anonymous. It also includes opportunities to elaborate on your work experiences, should you wish.

Don’t delay. Your responses will be invaluable in the next Wages and Working Conditions process, which begins formally in 2010! All members are invited to take the New Media Work Experience Survey. And remember, fill out the survey each time you work a new media job.

Questions? E-mail us at newmedia@sag.org.

Last Chance to practice VO this year!

Last Chance to practice VO this year!
"Mention you were referred by Kurt Kelly and receive a special deal!!"

a couple of VOWOG announcements:

1.) VOWOG will meet through November. We will have sessions every Tuesday in November through the 24th. In anticipation of holiday busyness, VOWOG will go on hiatus for the month of December. That means you have EXACTLY 4 sessions of directed, professional practice to get your 'A Game' on in the world of VO. Don't miss any opportunity to practice your craft, especially under the listening ear of a working pro. There are only 10 slots per session so first come, first served.

2.) For those looking for Basic instruction: look for one final BOVO: Basics of Voice Over course to be taught by yours truly in the fall/winter season. BOVO is your introduction to the world of VO with skills building and practical steps toward making a career. More details to come. If you or a friend are interested in BOVO, please drop me a line and let me know.

So, see you in November! And again in 2010.

Cheers,

Mick Wingert

Here is what some people have recently said about Deb Munro and her incredible coaching:
I am a card carrying member of the Deb Munro Fan Club!  She’s the real deal!  There are only a handful of coaches I recommend, and Deb is on the top of my list. Bob Bergen, LA (voice of Porky Pig/Tweety)

After 18 years in animation I was ready to expand my voice acting business.  Deb Munro was the first person I turned to.  Thanks to her mentorship, I am now armed and ready to tackle this exciting new stage in my career.  Deb's energy, insight and passion for this industry are unparalleled.-
Kelly Sheridan, Vancouver (voice of Barbie, My Little Pony, Care bears, X-Men)

Debbie, you are such an awesome talent!  You give to us who are trying to be the best we can be, and you take us beyond what we thought we could do.  Thank you so much.  But beyond that, you are a truly unique woman/person whom I am privileged to have met and worked with.....Rich Owen, LA

Been so busy these last few weeks I haven’t had time to audition for much of anything!  Must be that killer demo you put together for me!  I have definitely noticed an increase in clients. Larry Wayne, Sacramento

Edmonton Special –

Character Craze
It’s HALLOWEEN so it’s time for a crazy Character Workout VOICE STYLE with Award Winning Character Voice Talent Deb Munro (Mai – DragonBall/DragonBall GT, Huckle – BusyTown Mysteries, Carla – Benjaimn Bluemchen and more).

Dress up in your favorite Character Costumes (or even bring a couple of props) and work with Deb Munro as you fully develop 3 workable characters that you can apply to your voice projects and acting such as animation, audiobooks and more. Whether you’re brand new to the industry or a working pro this is the perfect opportunity to advance your character skills in a fun filled workshop that will set you in the right direction to make money with your Voice.

Once you’ve developed your characters you will apply each character to a different script as you discover the words mean nothing, it’s the development of the characters and the intention behind them.

With companies such as BioWare, 404Entertainment and others in your local communities, training for character work can be very lucrative.  Deb Munro works very closely with these companies allowing you tremendous opportunity and growth.

Stick around for Day 2 of this incredible Jam Packed Character Weekend
Audiobook Characters

Join us as a continuation of Day 1; Character Craze, or create your own characters to bring to this full day workshop.  We will work with your developed characters and put together a Short Audiobook/Radio Drama that the whole class will perform in the morning.
(One day only participants welcome but you must have created 3 characters prior to class).

In the afternoon you will bring a favorite book passage to perform with direction.  You will become each  character in your story so choose wisely.  Please choose scripts that are character based.  Kids stories and Sci Fi are great choices.

This is a very successful and entertaining class.  All short stories will be recorded and sent home with you, along with a copy of the final script.  This is a great opportunity for experience with group performance, (similar to group animation format) character building, adlibbing, improv and creativity.

Test your skills in one of the funnest classes out there.  This is an incredible learning opportunity and a ton of fun.

This class will only happen once a year and promises to be a small group

You will walk away with a recording of your sessions including direction and a 90 page take home workbook that will keep you growing even after class time is over.
