I have seen this movie twice! At the DGA, and at The Motion Picture Film Academy. This is a very moving movie! Watch for a moving performance by Bill Cobbs, and an all-star cast.
The Hollywood "Red Carpet" Premiere of "Get Low" was a huge success with a star-studded debut at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly hills; followed by a fully catered after party in the Grand Lobby. A very special thanks to Bill Cobbs, who stars in the role Rev. Charlie Jackson for inviting me to join him for this very special event. Cobbs performance was outstanding, with the A list cast, including Robert Duvall, Sissy Spacek, Bill Murray, Lucas Black, Gerald McRaney, and more [attend by several of the Hollywood elite].
This is the second screening I have had the pleasure of seeing [even better the second time], the first time being a few weeks ago at the Directors Guild of America. "Get Low is filled with emotions, real life situations, and tremendous messages!" In my opinion, if you are looking for a great film, add Get Low to the list of "must see movies" WHEN it came time to fill the lead role in “Get Low” — which embellishes the real-life story of a septuagenarian Tennessee hermit who gave his own “funeral party” in 1938 while still alive — the options weren’t plentiful for the people behind the film. Plot: A movie spun out of equal parts folk tale, fable and real-life legend about the mysterious, 1930s Tennessee hermit who famously threw his own rollicking funeral party... while he was still alive. Robert Duvall, star of “Get Low,” is among a handful of A-list actors who have neared or reached 80 while suffering little to no career slowdown.
