Humankind lust for more, and out appetite to hunt, kill and destroy, we have reached the "The 2-Degree Global Turning Point Meltdown!" We are now less than 5-10 years away from sea levels rising 200 or more feet; and this year alone we will be the cause of hundreds if not thousands of lifeforms this year alone. Our film is called Meratus Rainforest Should Not Die! A Kurt Kelly film. We hope you have a safe and memorable weekend planned with your family and loved ones. Despite the festivities of a holiday, the world at large is in dire need of your help. Deforestation of our rainforests is a staggering problem. Because of this, many beloved species will be extinct due to the destruction of their habitats. Some will be extinct by as soon as the end of the year. According to National Geographic, ..."a rate of 100 to 1,000 per million species go extinct every year mostly due to human-caused habitat destruction and climate change"1
This is where our film Meratus Rainforest Should Not Die! comes in. Meratus Rainforest Should Not Die! is a documentary that shows first-hand the tremendous amount of deforestation in the Indonesian rain forest. While our movie focuses specifically on the Indonesian rainforest, it brings forth attention to a giant worldwide problem. According to researchers such as Gerardo Ceballos and Anthony Barnosky who are referenced in a news article by CNN, ..."the modern mass extinction is NOT being caused by a freak act of nature... it's being caused by manmade changes to the environment including deforestation, poaching, overfishing and global warming, and it's proving to be just as deadly..."2 The general populace agree that this is indeed a problem.
