New Member Orientations are not just for new members! Whether you joined yesterday or have been a long-time member, come upgrade and refresh your niche in today’s ever-changing marketplace. Learn what you have to know about self-promotion, agents, casting, residuals, what actually happens on set, and much more. Get helpful hints and cold hard facts about juggling your three hats (the Artist, the Businessperson and the Union Member) to achieve a meaningful and rewarding livelihood. For veteran members, the new resources that the Guild continually provides should be reviewed, renewed, and explored.

[3] Screen Actors Guild Affirmative Action & Diversity Presents…“Know Your Rights!” workshop at NALIP’s Actorfest Studio on April 8
As you know, pursuing a career in the entertainment industry is often rewarding… and sometimes difficult. Especially when faced with discrimination, sexual harassment, pre-employment inquiries, predatory producers and issues of underemployment and underrepresentation. Screen Actors Guild Affirmative Action & Diversity in collaboration with the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) will feature a unique workshop at the day-long Actorfest Studio for performers that will share important information about:
• Workplace rights in the entertainment industry
• How to recognize and report workplace harassment and discrimination
• Guild resources available to empower and protect you
• Member-led diversity and equal employment opportunities committees
NALIP’s Actorfest Studio will also include professional development panels and other engaging workshops and networking opportunities with casting, acting, and auditioning professionals who will share their advice and experiences. SAG members will receive a special $10 discount on registration for the entire day of this actor-oriented event.
