Denny Randell and Biddy Schippers have been a part of some of the most influential groups in the 20th century.  They were on ActorsE Chat sharing their experiences as well as their projects in the industry.  Tune in here for an amazing interview which will let you have an insight into the music industry you have not thought of before.

Gaudio’s associate, Al Kasha, introduced Randell to lyricist Sandy Linzer. The duo wrote several Top 10 songs for Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, including “Working My Way Back to You” (also a hit for The Spinners in 1979, and in Ireland for Boyzone in 1994), “Opus 17 (Don’t You Worry ‘Bout Me)”, and, with Bob Crewe, “Let’s Hang On!”. Randell and Crewe later co-wrote Valli’s solo hit “Swearin’ To God”.
In 1965, Randell and Linzer wrote and produced most of the songs for the R&B girl group, The Toys, including their singles A Lover’s Concerto (adapted from Minuet in G major, a classical music piece), and “Attack!” Another Toys recording written by the duo, Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby, was later covered by the garage band ? and the Mysterians and, in 1998, was a #14 hit when covered by Smash Mouth. They also had a hit with Jay and the Techniques’ “Keep the Ball Rollin’”.

Linzer and Randell wrote two songs recorded by The Monkees, “I’ll Be Back Up On My Feet” and “The Day We Fall in Love”, and “Penny Arcade” by The Cyrkle. They later wrote “Native New Yorker”, performed by Odyssey on the soundtrack of the film Eyes of Laura Mars; it was later featured in the film The Nanny Diaries and the final year of HBO’s Sex and the City. Other co-writes include “Breakin’ Down The Walls Of Heartache”, a major UK hit in 1968 for Johnny Johnson and the Bandwagon, and Samantha Sang’s 1978 chart hit “You Keep Me Dancin’”.

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Randell worked in A&R for several companies, including Epic, RCA, and Frank Zappa’s DiscReet Records, for whom he produced Tim Buckley’s album Sefronia. He also produced the Iron Butterfly album Scorching Beauty. Later in the decade, he co-wrote and arranged the album Get Dancin’ by Disco Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes. In 1980 he co-wrote the Star Wars-themed album Christmas in the Stars, which featured singer John Bongiovi (later Jon Bon Jovi).


In 1985, he teamed up with songwriter and singer Biddy Schippers and formed the duo Randell & Schippers, who recorded a number of successful electronic dance tracks including Alice in Wonderland. The pair later married. In recent years they have worked together on the GI Jams project, which aims to develop and spotlight songwriting talents in the U.S. military.

Denny was born in New York city and then settled in Maryland.  He learned to play accordion as well as piano at any early age.  He also started to publish songs and then came to the attention of a major music company in New York.  He as then brought on as a staff music writer.

ActorsE Chat with Kurt Kelly of Live Video Inc.Interviews the Beautiful, and Delightful Actress, Sanny Van Heteren




Sanny stops into Pepper Jay Studios to chat with host, voice over extraordinaire, legendary radio and TV host Kurt Kelly. Sanny was born in Germany and grew up in southern Spain, where she began acting at the young age of seven doing local theater. Her first stage production was a school presentation of Grease. She played the iconic Sandy Dee/Sandy Olsson, which was played by Olivia Newton John in the film version. The production toured through the south of Spain. Sanny became a child star after starring in the the German classic Four Junior Detectives at age fourteen. The film was a cult classic, ‘similar to The Goonies’. Heteren also lived in Spain briefly before being sent to boarding school, she studied at Hurtwood House in England the boarding school that Emily Blunt, Hans Zimmer and Jack Huston also attended, she also attended Box Hill School in Surrey (an hour from London). Heteren wanted to study in London but had a strong feeling that she wanted to be in America. Sanny was invited to a ‘divorce party’ in NY and feel in love with the city. Growing up in Europe she became fluent in several languages, Sanny is bilingual and can speak German, and Spanish fluently, and ‘can defend (herself) pretty well in French and Italian. She became fluent in English when she moved to the states at 19. Sanny learned to speak English fluently by watching Nick@Nite, she worked very hard to ‘parrot’ and mimic the actors’ voices. She credits shows such as ‘I Love Lucy’ and ‘Welcome Back Carter’ as shows she watched a lot and were instrumental in helping her learn the language. While in NY Sanny was accepted to Tish after completing the initial admissions process, but the school later discovered that she had not taken SAT’s, no fault of Sanny’s being that she just arrived in the States, but nevertheless Tish wouldn’t accept her in. Ironically, four years later Tish changed it’s SAT policies for Europeans. Upon this she ended up in the restaurant industry. Sanny and few of her friends opened up a restaurant called Moomba, which she described the culinary style as ‘American with a splash of Asian’. Interesting fact about Moomba is that Lawrence Fishburne and Oliver Stone were two of the people who invested in the restaurant to help get it going. Her years as a co-owner of Moomba helped her make a living and continue to pursue her career as an actor. One of Sanny’s first big films was as a character named Spike in Raw Nerve (1999), which starred Mario Van Peebles and Nicolette Sheridan, from this opportunity Sanny was able to get into the actors union, SAG and AFTRA. Later she was cast as a ‘glorified extra’ in the Woody Allen film Celebrity along with her good friend Ian Somerhalder of Vampire Diaries fame. Woody actually handpicked all of the extras himself, and Sanny really enjoyed the experienced and was fascinated at the opportunity to watch Woody’s hands on approach at work. High Plains Invaders is a sci-fi film that was shot in Romania in which Heteren played an 1800’s gunslinger named Rose Hilridge, and it was also the first film in which she had been cast as the lead actress alongside James Marsters (Smallville on the WB). After several successful projects Sanny’s career stalled. She had moved to LA in 2001 and was working in the event business as a door person for a brief moment, she wasn’t getting any acting work and grew fed up with the business. Heteren packed her bags and went away to Thailand. Not long after after arriving there she was out on a boat when she received a call offering her an opportunity to do a film with Liam Neelson called Unknown (2011). She then packed her bags again and off to Berlin to shot film. Working with Neelson was an amazing experience and she looks forward to working with him again in the future. Coldwater (2013) is a psychological thriller that premiered at the NuHo Online Film Festival. It stars Ivan Djurovic and was directed by David Parker. Heteren was very impressed with David Parker and feels that he is an excellent director. During filming there was in impromptu moment in which during one of the scenes there is a knock at the door, completely unscripted and none of the actors knew who it was at the door. When the door was opened, it turned out to be a fellow actor that Sanny had previously worked with, and the two had to stay in character and contain their ‘surprised excitement’ until the Parker yelled ‘cut’. Sanny also worked as an executive producer on the 2012 film Errors of the Human Body, directed by Eron Sheean and filmed in Dresdan, Germany. ‘Errors’ is about a scientist, Dr. Geoff Burton, who loses his grip on life after a bad experience involving his son. Sanny revealed to Kurt that she made her singing debut in a YouTube video that was shot entirely on an iPhone 4S. She explained that in the video she ‘sang all of her frustrations out’. Kurt laughed and asked her, “Is that going to be the name of your first album?” She responded saying, “No, it should probably be called All My Ex’s.” Sanny explained that in the song, which she wrote herself, was written about a previous relationship she had with an unnamed celebrity. ActorsE Chat with Kurt Kelly of Live Video Inc. Interviews Producer and Educator Ron Brewington





Ron stops into Pepper Jay Studios to chat with host, voice over extraordinaire, legendary radio and TV host Kurt Kelly. These two go back many years together, and Kurt opens the show by explaining how they first met. Kurt tells the audience that after the two had a lengthy conversation, Ron gave Kurt a silver dollar as a memento, and Kurt asked Ron to tell the tale behind the silver dollar. Ron told Kurt that when he gives them to people he calls it STD- Something to do. Ron got in the habit, or ritual of giving silver dollars to anyone he encounters years ago while working as an entertainment reporter in LA. One day, he was on his way to doing an interview with Grammy Award winner and R&B legend Anita Baker and he stopped at a 7-Eleven before the interview. When he went to pay at the register the clerk told him his total was three dollars and some change, Ron gave him a five, but the clerk didn’t have a paper dollar in the register so he gave Ron a silver dollar and change. Ron then went off to do his interview with Anita and when the two finished, Ron placed his hand in his pocket and felt the silver dollar. He then thought it would be nice to give Anita the silver dollar as a token of good luck. The two went their separate ways, and ran into each other again two weeks later at a Grammy nomination ceremony. Anita spotted Ron there and spoke out to him saying, “Where’s my dollar?!!” Brewington responded saying, “What do you mean?” Anita said, “You gave me a dollar!” Ron then exclaimed, “Well I don’t have it, but I will get you a dollar, and not only will I get you a dollar, I’ll get you two dollars, one for now and one for the next time we meet.” And that’s how the tradition of the silver dollar was born. Ron Brewington and his twin brother were born in Harlem USA and attended Aviation High School. There he trained to be an airplane mechanic. As a teenager, he and his brother went on a tour of  a US Naval Base in Brooklyn, NY, he enjoyed the tour, and even more than that, the food! He enlisted in the Navy and served for 20 years, and his brother enlisted in the Marine Corp. When his brother retired from the Marines he joined the Army Reserves, and worked in radio broadcasting. For quite a while he would encourage Ron to get into broadcasting as well, because he felt that he had the voice for it. While stationed in Corpus Christi a position at a station opened up and Ron applied and got his start in radio as a disc jockey. He has since had a long successful career in radio, working with American Urban Radio Networks, KGLA, KLON which is known as KJAZZ, and has also worked in news with the Associated Press. Ron encourages all beginners to get a degree and start in smaller markets for radio, television, or newspapers, and work their way up. Ron received his degree in broadcasting and journalism, and has worked as a Professor at Santa Monica College, USC, and UCLA. He teaches a course for Broadcasting Announcing & Production where he promotes integrity and professionalism. The course is a seventeen week program that offers students the opportunity to broaden their knowledge in both television and radio production. The students are given five assignments, three radio assignments and two for television. The radio assignments consist of a script for a thirty second Sears commercial, a script for a three minute radio newscast, and a script for a two minute and thirty five second disc jockey audition to put together a demo that the students can use to find employment. The television assignments consist of a three minute newscast where the student is front of an actual camera with a teleprompter. Ron explains that if an individual can master the art of the teleprompter they can easily have a six figure salary position with any broadcasting company. Lastly, the television interview, where the students are on a set, in front of a camera as both the interviewer and the interviewee. “We teach them how to be a good interviewer like Kurt, he’s good!” Brewington exclaimed. “I like a student who has a thirst, a desire to make it in this business. They want to be an actor, they want to be in Hollywood, they want to enjoy themselves, and you can do that, you can meet people in this town that can make everything happen for you!” In addition to all of his work as a broadcaster, radio personality, reporter and educator, Ron also serves on the National and Regional Board of Directors and is the First Vice President of the Local LA Chapter for the Tuskegee Airmen, where he works to maintain and preserve the legacy of the first black pilots of the US military. There he also works to introduce youth to aviation, provide scholarships, and flying instruction. He also worked indirectly with George Lucas when he was filming Red Tails, the 2012 film that told the story of the Tuskegee airmen to audiences worldwide. Ron also is a National Vice President of the MOTOWN Alumni Association which consists of MOTOWN alumni and ex-employees. Another interesting thing that Mr. Brewington takes pleasure in is helping African American entertainers receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He started twenty years ago and the first entertainer he helped get a star for was none other than MOTOWN legend Marvin Gaye. Others include Smokey Robinson, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Funk Brothers, and The Supremes. Ron handles the paperwork involved and is active in finding the sponsors that help on the financial end of the process, for it is very costly to get a star on the Walk of Fame. Mr. Brewington is also a proud two time survivor of prostate cancer and is a member of The Real Men Cook Foundation. The Real Men Cook Foundation started a program that recruits people that go out with students from USC to community churches and raise awareness on prostate cancer.

Deyan Audio Expands Its Market Into New Categories and Reaches Globally
