The National Radio Hall of Fame invites you to vote for the 2009 inductees!

My voting, and promoting this years inductees into The National Radio Hall of Fame was inspired by an email from Dan O'Day:
Kurt....

I'm writing to ask a personal favor -- that you consider casting a
Radio Hall of Fame ballot for the most talented jock I ever heard:
Gary Burbank.

On my blog posting ( http://danoday.com/voting ) for July 15,
you'll find a video clip of his last day on the air.

This guy isn't the reason I got into radio. But he's the reason I
stayed.

Thanks very much,
Dan O'Day

P.S. On the blog, you'll also find a direct link to the online voting.

P.P.S. Deadline for voting is July 31...

So, I now encourage you to join me, Kurt Kelly in casting your vote, go to: https://nrhof.votenet.com/nrhof/register/

Dear Friend of Radio:

The National Radio Hall of Fame invites you to vote for the 2009 inductees!

Balloting began on June 29th and will end at Midnight on August 1st.

Votenet, a respected online vote tabulating firm, will monitor the balloting. Winners will be announced a week later.

Induction into America’s only National Radio Hall of Fame is radio’s highest honor.

The National Radio Hall of Fame Steering Committee believes that all of this year’s nominees meet the criteria for induction and each has earned special recognition for their remarkable careers. The 2009 nominees come from all sections of America and represent diverse formats and styles. Both commercial and public radio is represented as well.

Whomever finishes first in each category is worthy of induction ----and this year’s inductees will join the roster of radio greats that preceded them ---- Jack Benny, Lowell Thomas, Susan Stamberg, Robert W. Morgan, Kate Smith, Edward R. Murrow and Wolfman Jack.

The 2009 National Radio Hall of Fame induction ceremony and national broadcast will take place in Chicago on Saturday, November 7th. Premiere Radio Networks will produce and distribute the broadcast.

Please review the National Radio Hall of Fame Class of ‘09 and vote now!

Sincerely,

Bruce DuMont
Chairman, National Radio Hall of Fame

GARY BURBANK, like Dick Purtan, Larry LuJack, Imus, and a few others; are the icons of the industry! While the industry seems to be drifting over the cliff to become Ipods with commercials, GARY BURBANK was one of the personalities who set the bar. If radio wants to reinvent itself and survive in the new era, “more music, less talk” IS NOT THE ANSWER!!! More personality, more often is the hope for the future. Gary, was certainly a benchmark in personality radio.
