---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Vanessa Gilbert Date: Thu, Aug 27, 2009 at 5:17 PM Subject: Invitation to SAG Foundation Garden Party in honor of Don LaFontaine To: KURT KELLY
Cordially invites you to a Garden Party Fundraiser benefiting
The Don LaFontaine Voice-Over Lab
::
Don LaFontaine was known as much for his generosity as for being the most successful voice-over artist in history. The Screen Actors Guild Foundation is therefore proud to announce a new addition to our Actors Center in Hollywood – one that honors this legendary artist and helps keep alive his legacy of giving back. The “DLF Lab” will feature:
- 2 state of the art recording booths
- An engineering area that will double as a classroom.
- A working studio environment where actors may practice, record auditions, or work on demos…all at no cost.
- A space where many of the best voice-over professionals in the world (on both sides of the mic), will donate their time to teach or serve on the Advisory Board, making the lab a major center for the voice-over community, where all facets of voice-over can meet, study and inspire.
Your Hosts: Ann and Joe Cipriano 200 Bentley Circle Bel Air, CA 90049 (valet parking provided)
Entertainment by Adam "Aejay'e" Jackson and Friends, including Special Guests
Tickets: $150 per person (a tax deductible donation*)

This is not a story about "me", while it is a true story; it's intended as a true story about "us"! My hope is that anyone who reads this story, will truly get the message about looking beyond "me", or ones self, and will think more about the collective "us" and about sharing and giving whenever possible!!
AMEN! No one is truly an over night success, and NO ONE EVER DOES IT ALONE. I have been and am truly blessed to work with the best!!
While this is one of countless one that I have been blessed to share, if I may, let me share a true story:
Thank you for John for the best lesson of my life. Today I saw someone in in pain; and thanks to you, the message might have helped:
On a side bar about: "She never ever returned the favor", yes it has happened to me. I gave up wasting time worrying about who I've helped and what they did in return for me. It's Karma. It's not what I get back, it's only about what I give.
Over 20 years ago, I made a promise [that I keep to this day] to John Gehron [then at WLS - ABC, Chicago]. It was a simple request John made:
"If I open the doors for you, when you spot talent, do the same for them!"
At the time, I did not realize the magnitude of that request. However, I have always kept that promise. As a result, I have been blessed to work with some of the most talented legends on the plant!! John in later years opened the door to my career at ABC, CBS & many other places. "Thank you John, for the best lesson of my life! Thank you God, for putting John in my life." Hope this helps the sting.
Today I received a challenge from Fred Murtha to name 50 bands/artists I've seen live in concert; Today at 10:16am PDT, and then asked to share it with him and the world. Fred set the rules of this challenge:
OK, here are the rules. Test your memory and your love of live music by listing 50 artists or bands (or as many as you can remember) you’ve seen in concert. List the first 50 acts that come into your head.
Copy my note. Click on “notes” under tabs on your profile page. Select "write a new note" in the top corner. Paste the copy in the body of the note. Make your list. Once you've saved, don't forget to tag friends (including me) on the right.
My question, is why only 50, I been in entertainment since childhood; so let's give it a whirl. By the way, this is not in order by favorites, number of times, or otherwise ~~ it is totally random. I would also ask you to do the same; and at the same time, if you are 30+ [if you can't name at least 50] if you find this too hard ~~ then you need to get out more often!!! So let's give it a whirl:
